Following a race-winning campaign in GB3 where he finished seventh in the standings, Gerrard Xie is set to return to Hitech TGR for his maiden campaign in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, starting this weekend at the Albert Park Street Circuit.

2022 Chinese F4 champion Gerrard Xie is set to make his FIA Formula 3 debut this weekend in the season-opening round at Albert Park, marking the first time the Chinese driver will feature on Formula One’s support bill.

Stepping up to single-seaters in 2022, Xie won both the Chinese F4 and Formula Renault Super Challenge titles and had a strong showing at that year’s Macau Grand Prix, taking pole position, winning the qualifying race and finishing runner-up to Andy Chang.

Moving to Europe for 2023, Xie joined Hillspeed in the GB3 Championship, as part of the Hitech GP Academy. In his first season abroad, Xie had a difficult year but was able to clinch his first win in the series finale in Donington Park.

Staying in GB3 for 2024, Xie switched to Hitech, with whom he scored a win in Hungary along with three other podiums to end the year in seventh place in a year where he also scored wins in both the Formula Regional Oceania and Euroformula Open championships.

Heading into the upcoming Formula 3 season, Xie is set to stay with Hitech, joining Joshua Dufek and Martinius Stenshorne in the series’ first season with the new Dallara F3 2025 chassis.

“I’m very excited to start the 2025 racing season in Formula 3,” Xie said. “Through the testing session last month, I was able to familiarize myself with the new car and I believe that I have what I need to be focused and maximize my chances of achieving good results this weekend.”

“With the guidance of Hitech TGR, I feel confident I can put in a good performance this first round. A big thank you to everyone on the team who has been great help to prepare me for this exciting milestone in my career. Thank you as well to my parents for their continued support.”
